These last few weeks have been and will continue to be focused on bringing this farm into this time of transition, to make the most of the next step: planting and growth. Its stressful, fun, and beautiful.

This is a dangerous perspective that can either lead to a belief that we are either god-like entities that can do no wrong, or that we are potentially worthless meat bags whose reproduction is a repulsive selfish endeavor.

By the time the end of the week rolled around everything was just a blur without much differentiation between one day and the next.

I heard a loud knock and all the feed stopped moving. Something was wrong…If you see something that needs fixing, and you can fix it, you should fix it…

It’s this bizarre balance of absolute complexity working in the midst of simplicity.

If you can double the value of your work, with lowering the cost of your production why wouldn’t you?

“This is where I’m at, how do I need to carry myself forward so, at the very least, I do not make this hell worse?”

Its these slow times that make the fast times easier to manage. As we continue into this winter, I of course will be marketing Pork from this farm, and its my hope that you will use that as an invitation to slow down and rest, to share a good meal with family and friends with a good bottle of wine, and heck, why not throw in a board game or two.
